Moooooving

This is my apartment right now. And this is me looking way more happy than I am to be packing up all this shit. Ugh. But I'm feeling pretty organized and on top of everything. All my furniture is sold and is being picked up on Saturday, and I just have to cram the rest of my things into one more suitcase... that will be the challenge!

I'm having a goodbye party tomorrow night and we're going to play Laser Tag! How COOL is that?! I am way, way beyond excited. There's gonna be about 15 of us, so it'll be wicked. Dun dun dun I haven't played laser tag since I was like 13.

Last day of work tomorrow. It feels really strange. Saturday will be a busy day full of wrapping up loose ends, packing, cleaning, having people pick up furniture, visiting friends and saying goodbye, and then leaving my apartment. I'm staying overnight at Amber's house, and then on Sunday morning it's catching the early train to Tdot! Yowsa. It's all crept up so fast.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes are happening! Don't really want to talk about that right this second though, so let's talk about NYC!

The drive is long. About 8 hours with little stops, because it's tough to bomb it right through. Saw "Westside Story" on Friday night - by myself, because no one else wanted to pay to see it - and it was fantastic. I love Broadway shows so much. They make me so happy and giddy! We also went to the MOMA that night and wandered through the dazzling lights of Times Square.

Saturday was a crazy in-your-face day. We did an NBC studio tour, wandered Central Park, saw the progress at Ground Zero, I bought a fake Tiffany's necklace and bracelet on Canal St in Chinatown, took the subway to SoHo and ate a cupcake from the delicious Magnolia Bakery. We also gulped down numerous teas and coffees in between, to try and keep our little hands and bodies warm from the insane cold! And mixed in was a little bit of shopping and drinks out that night!

Sunday was pretty much wake up, shop a little (hello Victoria's Secret!!), and get back in the car to drive back to Mtl! Lots of driving for one full day in NYC - but worth it!

I love NYC. I don't know how much clearer I can make it. That city is amazing. I never tire of it, no matter how many times I go, and I think I've now been about 6 times. This is a little something I wrote about how I feel about the city:

You just can't help but feel alive here. All the bustling people, all the shops, all the noise. All your senses are turned on full blast. And I love that sensory overload. I like the evasive glances from other solitary people on the street. Wonder what their story is, wondering what they're thinking. I love that you can be alone in this city and yet not feel alone or lonely at all.

I <3 NYC

I promise to write a real post tomorrow night with news and photos from my trip to NYC this past weekend. Tonight turned into a busy evening - stayed late at work, had to get groceries, then went onto the set of the horror film Nick is producing and took some photos. And now I really need to go to bed! Bonne nuit lovelies.

Some photos from bowling on Friday night...

So I'm preparing for my acting debut tomorrow. Yeah you heard me. I'm gonna be a movie star! Err, a TV star, rather. For one of the TV shows we produce at work, they needed someone to act as a potential condo-buyer, so tomorrow morning I'm going under the bright lights of the cameras with a mic and etc (I don't really know how all this is done) to pretend to be a serious client and say intelligent things like, "So, what are the condo fees?" and "What's the building's occupancy rate?" Blah blah blah. All the while trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about and not giggle and look like a star-struck teenage girl. Think I can pull it off? Tune in tomorrow, folks...

This is me looking awesome.

My friend Matt is in town for a few days on his way to Guelph for a running race (he is hardcore about this), so I'm acting as tour guide and showing him around a little bit!

Also - I'm going to survive my vegetarian stint! Only a little over a week left to go!!

Sometimes I look at the "Missed Connections" section on Craigslist. I think I just like the idea of lives colliding. Of strangers thinking about each other. I like knowing that someone out there, at some point during their day, could be thinking about me. It could be a random stranger on the metro, or it could be someone I know. And perhaps all those random encounters you have with random people during the day maybe aren't so random. But just imagining and wondering about what other people are thinking is fascinating.

Last weekend I went home to BC for Thanksgiving. It was amazing. I felt so happy to see all my family and friends. And I realised a lot of things while I was there. Me with the girls:

I am really looking forward to this weekend. I have mostly nothing planned, which will be a nice change from the last two weekends when I've been out of town. On the agenda: edit photos and buy a winter coat. Yep, it's already cold here. Temperatures this week have been around zero, although it's been bright and sunny and beautiful and I haven't minded the cold at all.

Photo shoot - Roberta

The day before I left for Jamaica, I did a photoshoot for Roberta, who contacted me because she wanted some photos taken with her snake. We had a great time shooting in the Old Port, and it made for some super sexy and unique photos! Here are a few of my favourites!

You can also view more images from this shoot and other shoots on my website: Photography by Maresa

This is me right now. It's 23 degrees and I'm sitting on my balcony, using my wireless internet and writing a blog post. Oh, and drinking a Starbucks misto. Correction, Cafe Starbucks. Life is feeling pretty good right now. I'm having a lazy Saturday, and I think *knock on wood* that this is finally the real beginning of summer. Random thoughts that are cruising through my noggin:

- a guy just walked by wearing hot pink skinny jeans. Yes, he was definitely a guy. And they were definitely bright fuschia. Wow. (He just walked by again! I tried to take a pic with my camera, which is conveniently sitting right beside me, but I was too slow! Damn!!)

- there is a freakin lot of puff-ball things floating through this French air lately.

- I had my first MTL Blizzard last night! Yes, this is document-worthy, because it had been over a month and a half since I'd had one - AND the DQ is a 10 step walk from my apt.

- to continue with ice cream for a second, last night while in McDonalds at retarded-o'clock, I noticed that they sell Coffee Crisp McFlurries. Coffee Crisps are my favourite choc bar, and I've been hoping DQ would get their act together and make one, but... now I know where my next ice cream fix is coming from.

- tonight I'm going to check out Nuit Blanche and then to see the first night of the fireworks competition. Apparently the city closes down the Jacques Cartier Bridge and people hang out there to watch them. And I'm going with some girls I don't yet know... it's all weirdly like a pseudo-blind date. But not. Haha.

What better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than eating cupcakes at the cupcakery which is a 5 min walk from my house?? Oh, right, the icing on the cake (ha!) was doing my taxes and finding out I owe over $800. Great.

Photo shoot

So my cousin asked me to be her model a couple weeks ago - she's in photography school right now, and had an assignment to do a photo to represent some song lyrics. Her lyrics of choice were: In this dark cold hotel room / And the endlessness that I fear which basically meant that she wanted me to look suicidal and out of it. Which was difficult to accomplish!! But, I thought I'd share a few of the results:

Blast from the past

I was just looking through some of the multitudes of photos I have on my computer, and I ran across these which I'd scanned in a few years ago. Awww... ;)
